The honest case

Offshore engagements fail for
four predictable reasons.

Nearly every abandoned offshore accounting relationship comes down to the same four failure modes. Here is each one, and what we put in the agreement to answer it.

Failure modes

The four reasons it goes wrong, and the answer to each.

Failure mode 01

Review overhead eats the saving

If offshore prepared work needs substantially more review than in-house work, the headline cost saving shrinks fast. This is the most common reason engagements are quietly abandoned in the first year.

Our answer

Every engagement runs a calibration batch on your historic files before anything live is touched. Handover completes only when review hours per unit match your internal baseline, measured against your own files rather than asserted.

Failure mode 02

The team turns over constantly

High attrition means you re-train a seat repeatedly, and the institutional knowledge about your clients leaves with each person who goes.

Our answer

Compensation benchmarking, structured career pathing and a dedicated retention function. The backfill obligation, its timeline and the handover overlap are written into the agreement at our cost, and we will tell you our actual attrition figure in writing during diligence.

Failure mode 03

Security never actually gets answered

Providers send a certification badge and hope the questionnaire goes away. Then a client asks your firm a direct question and you have nothing to say.

Our answer

We complete your security questionnaire, share our control documentation, and write your right to audit us into the agreement. Where we hold a formal certification we will give you the report itself, including its exceptions section, rather than a badge.

Failure mode 04

The price moves after signature

Leave, training, attrition, licence costs and transition fees appear below the line once the engagement is underway.

Our answer

One fully loaded monthly number covering salary, benefits, workspace, hardware, licences, management and quality assurance, fixed for the agreed term, with no charge for leave, training, attrition or backfill.

The arithmetic

Compare it properly, both columns honest.

Most proposals compare a monthly rate against a domestic salary, which is wrong in both directions. Below is the full list of lines that belong in the comparison. Fill in your own figures, then ask any provider to fill in theirs against the same template.

Anyone quoting a specific percentage saving before they have seen your volumes, your software and your review standard is quoting a brochure, not your engagement. We put our number in writing after scoping, not before.

The last four lines are the ones proposals usually leave out. They are also the ones that decide whether the saving is real.

Security and compliance

Built to pass your client's questionnaire, not just ours.

These are the controls we operate on every engagement. We will document them against your own policy, complete your questionnaire, and accept an audit by your team. That right is written into the agreement.

Locked virtual desktops

No local storage, no removable media, no printing, no clipboard transfer out and no personal device access. Sessions are logged and the logs can be made available to your IT team.

Access controlled floors

Badge controlled entry segregated by client, camera coverage with a documented retention period, no personal phones on the delivery floor, and client visits welcomed.

People controls

Background verification at hire and on a refresh cycle, confidentiality agreements per client engagement, and annual security training with auditable completion records.

Documented control environment

Written policies covering access, change, incident and vendor management, available for your review under a confidentiality agreement.

Access lifecycle

Role based, least privilege access, reviewed on a fixed cycle and revoked on a defined timeline after any departure.

Data protection alignment

Processing agreements that reflect your jurisdiction, with data residency and retention set in the engagement rather than assumed.

Commitments

Six things written into every agreement.

Security your client can question

Access controlled floors, locked virtual desktops, no removable media and session logging your IT team can inspect. We will complete your security questionnaire and accept your audit.

Genuine time zone overlap

Teams work your hours, with a live overlap agreed in the engagement so questions get answered inside the working day rather than overnight.

Qualified, not just available

We recruit against your technical bar, and every engagement has a named second level reviewer who did not prepare the work.

Continuity you can hold us to

Structured career paths and benchmarked pay, with a backfill commitment and handover obligation written into the agreement.

Transparent, loaded pricing

One monthly number covering salary, benefits, infrastructure, licences, management and quality assurance. No leave deductions and no surprise line items.

Exit terms written up front

Notice period, process documentation handover and the team transfer path are all defined in the contract, not negotiated later.

Still deciding

Questions worth asking us, and your last provider.

If a provider hesitates on any of these, you have learned something useful.

With a scoping session covering your workflow, volumes, software and review standards. From there you get a written role scorecard, a team structure and a fully loaded cost before you commit to anything.
Pricing is quoted per engagement after scoping and is fully loaded: salary, statutory benefits, workspace, hardware, software licences, management, quality assurance and IT support. There is no separate charge for leave, training, attrition or backfill.
Work happens on locked virtual desktops with no local storage, no removable media access and no personal device access. Delivery floors are access controlled. We will complete your own security questionnaire, share our control documentation, and accept an audit by your team.
No. We staff to your existing stack and are provisioned as users inside your own environment under your roles and permissions. Nothing is migrated and no data leaves your systems.
Every engagement has a named second level reviewer who is not the preparer, plus an independent quality sample. Both are named in your service agreement and sign the monthly close checklist.
We recruit a calibrated replacement at our cost, with a documented handover and an overlap period where notice periods allow. The timeline is a contractual commitment, not a best effort statement.
Only if you tell them. The engagement is white labelled by default: your email domain, your templates, your branding. Many firms choose to disclose it, and we will support that conversation with our security documentation if it helps.
The notice period, the process documentation handover and the knowledge transfer period are all set out in the agreement. We would rather you leave cleanly than stay unhappily.
